Cover Reveal Thursday #3 - Dumplin' by Julie Murphy

Hey everyone! I've decided to start this new feature called Cover Reveal Thursday! This won't be a recurring meme because covers aren't necessarily reveal every week. Basically, whenever a cover is revealed from one of my favourite series/authors (or a debut author's book that I'm looking forward to), on the Thursday of that week, I'll post it here and discuss it a little because I am definitely one of those people that judges books by their covers.

Hope you enjoy!

This week, the cover of Julie Murphy Dumplin' was released. I only found out about this today and I am so excited! Read on to see the gorgeous cover.

Title: Dumplin' by Julie Murphy
Series: N/A
Publisher: Balzer+Bray
Release Date: September 15th, 2015
Goodreads Synopsis:

Self-proclaimed fat girl Willowdean Dickson (dubbed “Dumplin’” by her former beauty queen mom) has always been at home in her own skin. Her thoughts on having the ultimate bikini body? Put a bikini on your body. With her all-American beauty best friend, Ellen, by her side, things have always worked . . . until Will takes a job at Harpy’s, the local fast-food joint. There she meets Private School Bo, a hot former jock. Will isn’t surprised to find herself attracted to Bo. But she is surprised when he seems to like her back.

Instead of finding new heights of self-assurance in her relationship with Bo, Will starts to doubt herself. So she sets out to take back her confidence by doing the most horrifying thing she can imagine: entering the Miss Clover City beauty pageant—along with several other unlikely candidates—to show the world that she deserves to be up there as much as any twiggy girl does. Along the way, she’ll shock the hell out of Clover City—and maybe herself most of all.

With starry Texas nights, red candy suckers, Dolly Parton songs, and a wildly unforgettable heroine— Dumplin’ is guaranteed to steal your heart.
Why I'm excited: There are many, many reasons that I'm super excited for this book. First of all; that cover. It's gorgeous and features a beautiful plus-sized lady. Julie Murphy also shared the back cover here. I could go on for hours about the cover. Next; the story. I've been searching and searching for YA  novels that feature confident fat characters, who's story and self worth isn't defined by how much weight they can lose. So far, Vintage Veronica by Erica S. Perl is the only one I've found (read it, seriously, it's amazing!). So I'm really hoping this book turns out to be just as great as Vintage Veronica ! I am really, really looking forward to this one!!
